No two genuine cultured pearls are exactly alike.
Subtle variations in shape, surface, luster and colour occur naturally as a pearl forms. You may notice small surface characteristics, gentle variations in shape or slight differences in tone from one pearl to another.
These are natural characteristics of genuine pearls rather than signs that every pearl should appear perfectly identical.

What We Look For
Luster
Luster describes the light reflected from within and across the surface of a pearl.
Pearls with beautiful luster appear bright, lively and luminous. It is one of the qualities we pay particular attention to when selecting pearls for Ora Jewelry.
Surface
Because pearls are formed naturally, completely flawless surfaces are uncommon.
Small dimples, growth marks or other subtle surface characteristics may occur naturally. We consider both the appearance of the individual pearl and the overall beauty of the finished piece when making our selections.
Shape
Cultured pearls occur in many shapes, including round, near-round, button, rice and baroque forms.
Round pearls offer a classic, balanced appearance, while baroque and other naturally shaped pearls are appreciated for their individuality and organic character.
Colour
Pearls naturally occur in a range of tones and overtones.
Depending on the pearl and lighting conditions, you may notice subtle shades of white, cream, silver, pink, peach or other natural overtones.
Screen settings and lighting may also cause colours to appear slightly different in photographs.
Pearl Size Guide
Pearl size can significantly change the overall look of a piece of jewelry.
As a general guide:
4–5 mm — Fine & Delicate
A subtle, refined size ideal for minimalist styling and layering.
6–7 mm — Refined Everyday
Noticeable without feeling overpowering, making it an easy choice for everyday wear.
7.5–8.5 mm — Classic Presence
A timeless pearl size with a more visible presence while remaining elegant and versatile.
9–10 mm — Noticeable
A larger pearl with greater visual impact.
10–11 mm — Statement
Distinctive and elegant, with a stronger presence when worn.
12 mm and above — Bold Statement
Designed for those who appreciate the character and visual impact of larger pearls.
Pearl size is measured in millimetres. Photographs are intended as a visual guide only, and perceived size may vary depending on the wearer, viewing distance and screen.

Natural Pearl Characteristics
Genuine cultured pearls are natural gems rather than machine-made objects.
Small differences in surface, shape, colour, luster and matching are therefore expected and form part of their natural character.
These naturally occurring variations are not, by themselves, considered manufacturing defects.

Caring for Your Pearls
Wear Last
Put your pearl jewelry on after applying perfume, cosmetics, hairspray and other beauty products.
Avoid Chemicals
Avoid prolonged contact with water, chemicals and household cleaners.
Remove your pearl jewelry before swimming, showering or exercising.
After Wearing
Use a soft jewelry cloth to gently wipe your pearls after wear to help remove oils and residue.
Do not use a silver polishing cloth directly on pearls, as polishing compounds may affect their natural luster.
Sterling Silver
Unplated sterling silver naturally oxidises over time when exposed to air and moisture.
A silver polishing cloth may be used gently on unplated sterling silver components to help restore their shine. Avoid allowing the polishing cloth to come into direct contact with pearls.
Store With Care
Store pearl jewelry separately from harder jewelry to help protect the pearl surface from scratching.
Keep your jewelry in its box or pouch when not in use.
Pearls are organic gems and should not be stored in completely airtight conditions for extended periods.
