One of the most beautiful things about pearls is that they are created by nature.
Unlike jewellery components manufactured to identical specifications, cultured pearls develop individually inside molluscs. Tiny differences in their growing environment can influence their shape, surface, colour and lustre.
This means subtle variations are completely natural.
You may notice:
Slight differences in shape
Small surface characteristics
Gentle variations in colour
Different overtones under changing light
These characteristics do not necessarily mean that a pearl is defective. They are part of what makes natural pearl jewellery unique.
This is especially noticeable with baroque and near-round pearls, where individuality becomes part of the design itself.
Rather than expecting every pearl to look mechanically identical, we prefer to appreciate the natural character that makes each piece distinctive.
